Google doesn’t wait for you to update your Business Profile anymore. It calls you.
Google’s automated assistant now phones, texts, or WhatsApps the number on your Google Business Profile to verify details like your hours and services — and what it hears can end up live on your listing. Google just gave business owners a way to see exactly what its AI collected: a new Collected Info tab inside your Business Profile dashboard.
If you run NEMT, this one deserves five minutes tonight. Here’s why, and exactly what to check.
What Google is doing
Google’s automated systems periodically contact the phone number listed on your Business Profile — by automated call, text message, or WhatsApp — to confirm everyday details: hours, services, contact information. It can record your response, even a quick “yes,” and use it to update your public profile automatically.
Until now, you had no visibility into what it collected. The new Collected Info tab (Edit Profile → Collected Info) changes that. It shows each detail Google gathered, the source it came from, and the date it was collected. Anything wrong, you can delete.
Two things to know: the tab is rolling out gradually to select regions, languages, and business categories, so you may not see it yet. And deleting an entry removes it from Google’s internal record — but it does not fix anything already live on your profile. That part you still have to edit by hand.
Why this hits NEMT harder than most businesses
Think about who answers your phone. For most NEMT companies, the number on the Google Business Profile rings to dispatch — dispatchers juggling drivers, or drivers themselves between runs. Now picture Google’s automated system calling on a slammed Monday morning asking “Are you open Saturdays?” A rushed dispatcher says “no” because the office is closed Saturdays — even though you run weekend hospital discharges. That answer can become public data on your listing.
For NEMT, your Google listing isn’t a digital brochure. It’s how a discharge planner at 4pm on a Friday decides whether to call you, and how a family member picks between you and the next company. Wrong hours or missing services don’t just look sloppy. They cost trips.
The 5-minute check
- Go to business.google.com and open your profile.
- Click Edit Profile, then look for the Collected Info tab. Not there yet? The rollout hasn’t reached you — check back.
- Read every entry. Check the source and the date before assuming it’s right.
- Delete anything wrong or outdated on the spot.
- Then go fix the actual field on your live profile — deleting the collected entry doesn’t change what’s already published.
Brief your dispatchers
This is the step most owners will skip, and it’s the most important one. Anyone who answers your business line needs to know: Google’s automated system may call, text, or WhatsApp to verify your details, and whatever they say can end up on your public listing. Tell them to answer carefully — and if they’re not sure about something, to say so instead of guessing.
Keep everything telling the same story
Google is turning your Business Profile into a live, AI-maintained data layer. That data feeds local rankings, Maps, and the AI-generated answers that increasingly decide who gets the call. The practical rule is simple: your website, your Business Profile, and whatever Google’s assistant collects should all say the same thing. Mismatches quietly work against you.
Your Google Business Profile isn’t a form you fill out once anymore. Google is actively maintaining it for you — which means it’s on you to check its work. Five minutes in the Collected Info tab tonight beats finding out next month that your listing told every Friday discharge planner you’re closed on weekends.

FAQ
What is the Collected Info tab?
A tab inside your Google Business Profile dashboard (Edit Profile → Collected Info) showing details Google’s automated assistant gathered about your business through phone calls, texts, or WhatsApp messages — with the source, the date collected, and the option to delete inaccurate entries.
How does Google collect this information?
Google may contact the verified phone number on your Business Profile using automated calls, texts, or WhatsApp to confirm details like hours or services. Your responses can be used to update your public profile.
Is the Collected Info tab available to every business?
No. Google is rolling it out gradually to select regions, languages, and business categories. If you don’t see it yet, check back.
Does deleting collected info fix my live listing?
No. Deleting an entry removes it from Google’s internal record, but details already published on your profile must still be edited manually.
Why should NEMT operators care?
Because the phone number Google calls is usually your dispatch line, and the details it verifies — hours, services — are exactly what discharge planners and families use to choose a provider. A wrong answer from a rushed dispatcher can become public, trip-costing data.
