See exactly how much the brokers are costing you.
Most NEMT fleets leave five and six figures a year on the table by running broker-heavy. Plug in your numbers and watch the gap — then we help you close it.
Your fleet, right now
Estimates for planning only, based on the numbers you enter. Actual results depend on market, payer mix, and execution.
The broker trap is a volume trap.
More broker trips means more miles, more wear, more liability — for pennies. The fleets that win build a private-pay and facility-direct base that pays full rate and recurs. We have done it on our own fleet — 9+ vehicles, six-figure monthly revenue, zero broker dependency — and we build the same engine for you: local SEO, Google Business Profile, a conversion website, reviews, and discharge-planner outreach that fills your schedule with the trips on the right side of this calculator.
Directional margin is useful only when the inputs match the operation.
The NEMT Profit Calculator compares a simplified set of trip revenue and cost assumptions. It does not replace bookkeeping, route-level costing, tax advice, payroll analysis, payer rules, or a full financial model. Enter realistic values, keep the scenario label, and compare the estimate with completed-trip records before changing pricing or channel strategy.
Include the real trip burden
Consider loaded and unloaded miles, driver time, wait time, deadhead, assistance, cancellations, vehicle cost, dispatch overhead, and collection risk.
Separate payer and trip types
Broker, facility, private-pay, recurring, wheelchair, ambulatory, long-distance, and after-hours work can have different economics. A blended average can hide the problem.
Compare estimate with actual
Pull a sample of completed trips and reconcile quoted revenue, received revenue, labor, mileage, time, and unusual costs.
Use margin insight to choose a growth channel
If a trip type is attractive but underrepresented, the Growth System can help connect that service to the right buyer. If the issue is lost phone demand, use the missed-call calculator. For private-pay quoting, compare the quote model with actual route economics.
Profit Calculator questions, answered directly
Is the calculated profit an accounting result?
No. It is a directional estimate based on simplified inputs. Actual accounting profit requires complete business records and appropriate professional review.
Should empty return miles be included?
Yes, when the vehicle or driver incurs those miles and time because of the trip. Excluding deadhead can materially overstate margin.
Can the calculator set my prices?
It can support scenario testing, but pricing should reflect full costs, market conditions, service requirements, contracts, laws, and the business’s financial objectives.
